About the Mahatma

HI!  I’m effortlessly interesting and aggressively likable!

“Mahatma Randy” is a nickname a stoned friend gave me in high school about thirty years ago. I have no idea why, and he didn’t remember doing it after the fact. Out of the blue, I guess.  It was my nickname, stage name, and nom de plume for a couple decades, including my early years online. I even had a website called “Mahatma Randy (dot) Com.”

Then crazy stuff happened, and I got a stalker, then another, then another, and some dedicated trolls. Honestly, I’m not sure how serious the stalking danger was, but overblown or not, it terrified me, and I figured I should go underground. I was essentially OTG for about three years.  In 2007 I got back online, doing a lot of stuff under a variety of pseudonyms. Mostly, I was a modestly successful blogger, and I’ve written five full-length books, and written/recorded a ton of songs.

In the last year or so, I’ve grown tired of pretending to be other people, or perhaps I’ve simply grown less afraid. I haven’t decided whether to use my whole name or not. Probably I shouldn’t. Probably if you know who I am already, then that’s good enough, and if you don’t you probably don’t need to. I haven’t made a final decision on that yet. Call it an open secret.

Anyway, for those of you who are new, “Randy” is my real first name, so you can call me that.

I am technically inept, and this is really the first website I’ve attempted to run without extensive help from others, so please bear with me
